Using the RxSaver tool can save you up to 85% on prescription medications, by helping you find prescription prices and discounts at pharmacies near you. But what happens when you find out that your best option is at Costco — and you’re not a member?
Not to worry! You don’t actually need a membership to fill your prescription at Costco. Here’s how to do it.
Step 1: Use RxSaver to find prescription coupons at nearby pharmacies:
Find the pharmacy with the best price and select “Show Coupon” for the pharmacy of choice. Then show the coupon at the pharmacy counter when you pay for your medication to get the discounted price. You can also print out your coupon to hand to the pharmacist or call in advance to put the coupon on file.
Step 2: Fill your prescription at Costco:
If you find that Costco is the best option, you can fill your prescription there and you don’t have to be a member. If you need to transfer your prescription from your current pharmacy to Costco’s pharmacy, just call your pharmacist at the current pharmacy and ask them to transfer the prescription. Once your prescription is ready just enter the store and head to the pharmacy or if the employee monitoring the entrance asks for your membership card, let them know you’re filling a prescription. At the pharmacy counter, show your coupon, and pick up your prescription as you would at any other pharmacy.
Step 3: Either show your phone or printed coupon to the pharmacist:
Many people use their phones to show the RxSaver coupon at the pharmacy counter, but you have other options. You can also print out the coupon at home, or request a free prescription discount card that you can keep in your wallet. Ask your pharmacist to add the coupon on your file for any future prescriptions.
Please remember that RxSaver is not an insurance program. If you have insurance, it’s always a good idea to compare your health insurance price with the discounts you find on RxSaver, especially if you have a high deductible plan. If you don’t have insurance coverage, RxSaver’s prescription coupons may be cheaper than the cash price on your medication.
Using RxSaver to shop around for prescription drugs can help you save up to 85% on your medication. Now if you find that Costco is the best option, you can fill your prescription with confidence, even if you’re not a member.
