Anaphylaxis signs and diagnosis

A diagnosis of anaphylaxis25 will likely involve your provider asking you questions about reactions you’ve had to certain substances, including:

  • Particular foods
  • Medications
  • Latex
  • Insect stings

You might be given a skin test or a blood test to help confirm the diagnosis and determine your trigger. Your provider will help you rule out conditions that have symptoms similar to those of anaphylaxis.

You should always see your provider if you are unsure of whether you may have a severe reaction to certain allergens.
