Sulfamethoxazole / Trimethoprim Warnings

  • Do not use this drug if you become pregnant.
  • Shake well before using.
  • Medication should be taken with plenty of water.
  • Avoid prolonged or excessive exposure to direct and/or artificial sunlight while using this medication.
  • May cause diarrhea during treatment. If it persists or becomes severe, tell your doctor or pharmacist.
  • Persistent diarrhea due to colitis may rarely occur weeks or months after using antibiotics. If this occurs, notify your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
  • Consult your doctor or pharmacist before breastfeeding.
  • Important: Finish all this medication unless otherwise directed by prescriber.

Lactation Warnings

  • CAUTION IN INFANT WITH HYPERBILIRUBINEMIA; SHOULD NOT USE IN G6PD-DEF INFANT
  • NO REPORTED ADVERSE EFFECTS ON 50 INFANTS.

Pregnancy Warnings

  • Limited data suggest an increased risk of congenital malformations. Animal data suggest developmental toxicity at doses less than10 times the maximum recommended human dose. Consider maternal treatment benefits versus potential fetal/neonatal adverse outcomes.
